(in Tengger Desert, Inner Mongolia, China.)

Shapotou is located on the southeastern edge of the Tengger Desert where the 4th largest desert in China. We arrived the Shapotou Research Station on Octover 14 at 15:30.

Pictured left is Mr. Iwase standing in front of the Shapotou Research Station.

Pictured left is another sight-seeing spot in the Chinese singing sand dunes.
From the top of the singing dune (height 50 m), we can see the Yellow-River. Tourists ride on a camel to the sight-seeing.
The sand did not boom that day, in spite of the nice ticket office personnel who tried to produce booming sounds by creating small sand avalanches.
The ticket office of Shapotou singing sand dune.
The manager had tried to create a boom sound by producing a small avalanche like the pictured below. We could only hear a very low-volume sound, but we could not record it.
