これは微生物の巨大なアパートであり、さらに空気と水と必要なすべての食物を自動的にそこへ供給している。

しかし、この微生物に無関係に人類文明が可能であるかの如く、日本では21世紀にも舗装が進行している。

私はその微生物をこの目で顕微鏡で見たいと思った。
I wanted to look at the microbe by this eye under a microscope.
しかし私の友人だった生物学の教授が「それは無理だよ」といってくれた。

彼いわく。その図は無数の研究者がやった結果の集成だよ。一覧するわけにはいかんよ」と。

そのような答えを得られたのはその教授と私とが親交があったからだったと思う。
The reason to get the answer was because there was a kindly relation between the professors and me, I think.
