Musical Sand and Micro shells 鳴き砂と微小貝

I had been able to gather UCHIAGE-GAI and especially micro shell on the beautiful Kotoga beach. The number of nearly 160000. However, we can't find the musical sand and micro shells on the polluted beach.

　この琴ケ浜の美しい鳴き砂から、打上貝(うちあげがい)とくに微小 貝を数多く拾うことができました。 その数およそ１６万個。 　しかし汚染された海岸では、この鳴き砂も微小貝も目にする ことはできな くなってしまったのです。

The photographs and shells were offered from Shigeo MIWA and volunteers in Nima-cho, and we got Mr. Seiho Okamoto and other conchologists to explain an shell's analysis. and we got Mr. Chimai to draw some pictures. The story of Micro shells 微小貝のお話

While seashell(marine shells) are living, it is difficult that we find them because they are hidden in a seaweed or are covered by algaes, but after they died a natural death or became food for the other living thing, they ride waves and are washed up ashore, they finally become UCHIAGE-GAI(beached shells) and get together on a beach .

海の貝は、生きている間はおもに水中に生活していて、海草のなかに いたり、藻などにおおわれ ているので、なかなかその姿を見るこ とはできませんが、その命をまっとうするか、他の生き物の エサとなったのちに、あるときは川や湖からはるばる海にたどりついたり、海流に乗って、海岸に 打上貝(うちあげがい)となって集まります。
