Milling
あるアメリカ人（物理学者）：から「millingがわからない。crushing,grindingのことで、砂を洗うことに結びつかない」といってきたから、これはpowder techinology の terminology だと答えておいた。気になって英英辞典"The Random Hous Dictionary of the English Language"(Random House/New York,1966)を調べてみたら、あった。
1. The act or an instance of subjecting something to the operation of a mill. 2. Slang. a thrashing.(風・波に抗して進む）
この辞書の日本語版では「1. ひき臼でひくこと,製粉；粉砕機にかけること」とあった。物理学者だから分からなかったらしい。
