Remained mystery of Kauai

We(17.August.1997) visited Kauai,Hawaii. Now the Barking sand is in a military bases for missile. By a introduction of WAIMEA SHINGON MISSION, under a permission of Commanding Officer of Pacific Missile Range Facility, we could entered to the barking sand dune area. The place are restricted in time, after 4:00 p.m. in weekdays. Saturday and Sunday is off limit . From the gate to barking area , we cannot go by car. We must go on a craggy cliff or a ledge, about 1 km. With difficulty , we could arrived the barking sand area. Now the place is a surfboards, and the dune was covered by a wooded land of a tree,called KIAWE, then sandy plain is very narrow. There are no free sand hill, then the sand cannot have avalanches, therefore the sand don't bark.
The inhabitants do not look the beach, and forget the true barking sand. Barking sand is in their old tales or a legend of Kauai. I am very disappointing that. I receive a interview of Hawaii Radio, I said " I am disappointing the fact. I hope revive the sound, because it is the only known examples of non-desert booming sand in the world. It is a treasure of earth. You must form a group to protect the sound. In Japan , we have a nationwide group with the support of the Environmental Agency."
We find a remenmbrance of the sound in a night stall. It is as follows. At the beach, always a very strong wind from the sea is blow up the sand. I remember the wind of the top of Dunhuang, China.
The particles of this dunes are not made of quartz, but calcium carbonate particles formed from sea shells. Except the shells, we can find many foraminifer in the sand. We find in every beaches of Kauai, especially, very large, about 5 mm, Amphestina lesonii�@d'Orbigny. Why foraminifer or shells are principal ingredients?�@Is this a remained mystery of barking sand?
