on television, I found your homepage on the singing sand of Amino-chou and
on the Nima sand museum.
Sounds pretty interesting... although, surely, that would need further
research work.
I guess you are a rather busy person, as most Japanese - and some Germans,
too - are, so I don岐 want to take too much of your time. But I would be
rather grateful if you could give me the addresses of the Nima sand museum
and of the government of Amino-chou (I guess that must be the town of Amino
- somewhere near Kyoto, or so I was told... right?)
Also, telephone and / or facsimile numbers would be desirabe, if no email
should be available... and even if so... I mean, I can read and write
Japanese rather fluently, and communicating in Japanese might be easier, you
know...? But my computer cannot do that... not yet...
By the way, your address contains "doshisha.ac.jp"... is that the Doshisha
University in Osaka? I guess so... if you should happen to know a Mr.
Tatamitani Keisuke, please give him my best regards. He should still be

Comment : I used to go with my family to Laguna Beach, Florida, when I was young, and loved hearing the sand squeak under my feet. I was able to hear booming sand, but wasn't able to find that familiar wonderful squeak.

Comment : Question: in his new book, UNDAUNTED COURAGE, Stephen E. Ambrose writes on page 247 that Meriwether Lewis (great American explorer--Lewis and Clark) "described in his journal a repeated noise coming from the northwest at regular intervals that resembled precisely the discharge of a piece of ordinance of 6 pounds at the distance of three miles." Lewis was in the region of White Bear Islands near the Great Falls of the Missouri River in western MONTANA. Any chance Lewis could have been hearing SINGING SAND?
